During the RHL season, any team may acquire a player who is the property of an NHL team who is not on another RHL team’s roster. Basic cost to acquire a free agent is 5 units. If two or more teams claim the same player, the team that submits the highest bid shall receive the player for a cost of one unit more than the next highest bid.
To claim a free agent, a team must submit the name of the player it seeks to acquire, the name of the player it will cut to make roster space for him (except as provided in the Injured Reserve Rule) and the maximum amount of units it will bid.
Free agents will be awarded at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before the start of an RHL playing period.
No free agent acquired after the 35th game of the season shall be eligible to be used in the playoffs (except as provided under the Injured Reserve Rule).
